Synopsis
Set in mid‑1990s Haldwani, the film follows Jaspreet (“Jassi”) who believes in old‑school romance—landline calls, mixtapes, and handwritten letters. He falls for Jasmeet but his pursuit is complicated by the existence of another Jassi and a meddling married couple, leading to misunderstandings and comedic situations in a charming small‑town setting.
What Works
- Nostalgia & Setting: The film does a great job of evoking the 90s—from cassette tapes and rotary phones to small‑town life. The production design and color palette create a warm, familiar atmosphere.
- Performances: Harshh Vardhan Singh Deo as the earnest romantic lead is likable, while Rehmat Rattan matches his energy. Ranvir Shorey and Sikandar Kher shine in supporting roles, especially with comedic timing.
- Tone & Humor: The comedy relies on character quirks and situational humor rather than slapstick, making it a gentle and refreshing rom‑com.
- Family-Friendly Appeal: The story emphasizes heart over drama, making it suitable for family viewing.
Where It Stumbles
- Pacing Issues: The first half drags a bit, though the second half gains momentum.
- Familiar Plot: The mistaken-identity storyline is charming but predictable, relying on rom‑com clichés.
- Moments of Unevenness: Some scenes and songs feel stretched, slightly slowing the narrative.
